National and International Specialist Society Clinical Databases
The establishment of large patient based registries for specific diseases, clinical specialties and procedures is becoming commonplace in surgery and increasingly proposed in other medical specialities. Not only are such registries an invaluable source of data for research, but also national standards for outcomes can be identified, against which individual hospitals can run prospective audit to compare their results adjusting for casemix and severity of illness. Consequently, such registries are having an increasingly profound influence on clinical practice, as well as to better understand the behaviour of patient sub-groups with respect to disease progression and response to therapeutic intervention. This would include the generation of risk stratification models that can be used at the point of care to guide clinical decision making.

This list of eminent professional bodies, are currently using the Dendrite system as a professionally driven quality assurance system, utilising a multivariate analysis of factors that contribute to clinical risk and outcome benefits. Through this process, a picture of national practice is formed, with adjustment for casemix and risk stratified outcomes.
