Dendrite Clinical Systems signs cardiac surgery software agreement with Hamad Medical Corporation

Dendrite Clinical Systems has announced that it has signed an agreement with the Hamad Medical Corporation to install a clinical software database at the Cardiac Surgery Department at the Hamad Medical Corporation"s Heart Hospital in Doha, Qatar.

The installation of the new system will allow clinicians to follow their patient"s treatment from the moment they enter the centre until they are discharged, and track any subsequent follow-up treatment. Dendrite"s flexible database software will facilitate Heart Hospital"s collection and analysis of clinical information, and provide real-time clinical practice tools to assist the performance of individual clinicians.

“Establishing trends of clinical audit and governance are central to providing efficient and cost-effective healthcare system,” commented Professor Edward Hillhouse, Chief Policy Advisor on Academic Health Systems at the Hamad Medical Corporation. “We believe the installation of this clinical database will allow the HMC to achieving effective clinical audit, ultimately improving patient outcomes.”

By identifying practice patterns at the Heart Hospital, the database will advance the assessment of functional outcomes and comparative analyses of different clinical approaches in the hospital. Dendrite"s system will be a powerful tool for the development of treatment guidelines, evidence-based modification of public policy and allocation of healthcare resources.

“The installation of this cardiac surgery database will allow our clinicians to benchmark their results against international standards,” said Dr Abdul Wahed Al-Mulla, a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at the Heart Hospital. “Following on from the success of the database of the Society of Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons in the United Kingdom, the decision to choose Dendrite as the provider of our cardiac clinical database was a natural choice.”

The Hamad Medical Corporation said it was committed to providing cost efficient hospital care, introducing modern methods of diagnosis and utilising state of the art therapy and management to ensure high quality healthcare for all.

“We are delighted that the Hamad Medical Corporation has chosen our proven clinical software solution for the Cardiac Department at the Heart Hospital, “said Dr Peter Walton, Managing Director of Dendrite Clinical Systems. “Our unique, flexible database software and comprehensive data analysis system, empowers hospitals, clinical departments and clinicians with their own data and we look forward to assisting the Hamad Medical Corporation fulfilling their goal of providing the tools for effective clinical governance.”
