Dendrite and BAPRAS create UK National Flap Registry

Dendrite Clinical Systems and the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) have created the UK National Flap Registry (UKNFR) to collect information on all major free and pedicled flap operations carried out in the UK. This cross-specialty registry is supported by the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists, the British Association of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Association of Breast Surgery.

The Registry, which was launched in June 2015, will not only assess the quality of care patients receive, but will be used by specialists as part of a professional practice process for appraisal and revalidation.

“I would encourage all members to participate in this audit that will facilitate appropriate comparisons of clinical performance with national and internationals standards,” said Miss Anita Hazari, Consultant Plastic Surgeon, UKNFR Audit Lead. “In addition, the UKNFR will provide useful data on changing surgical trends.

The UKNFR will utilise Dendrite"s “Intellect Web” national registry software to facilitate on-line data entry. The Registry can be accessed using a range of modern html-5 compatible web browsers, allowing registrants to enter data without the need to install additional software or perform any complex system configurations.

This system allows the individual clinician to enter patient information onto a database whether in hospital, from an office-based practice or even at home. Clinicians can add as many cases as they wish and where possible they will be encouraged to put on retrospective data (if applicable).
